Gucci Flavor was born and raised in Sea view Garden, Jamaica; it was not until 2002 that he arrived to the United States. In five years, Gucci Flavor has become one of Connecticut’s brightest young underground reggae artist with a future destined to be on top.

Jamal Bartelle: What musical icons or reggae artist influenced your career?.

GF: Most definitely Sizzla, Shabaa Ranks, Bounty Killa, Elephant Man and my fans/people who give much respect to one’s creative ability to embrace the cultural aspects of society itself.

Jamal Bartelle: As a young man, when did you realize that music is something one will put his heart into for life? Or when did you decide to pursue music?

GF: The ninth grade is when everything began to happen; music became a desirable passion or heartache that I had to pursue. Also in 2002, I came to The United States and I grew as a reggae artist. I received a lot of experience and began to finalize my music, I developed status in the music business.

Jamal Bartelle: When preparing to write a song, what aspects of life do you consider? / Or what stand does your music take?

GF: Street life and the environment in which I’m surrounded by three hundred and sixty five days a year. Most importantly my music is very political because that’s life and the ways of the world.

Jamal Bartelle: So what should fans or people in general expect from Gucci Flavor in 2007?

GF: First and foremost, I’m bringing music to fans/people hardcore and giving them something they haven’t heard before. I want fans and people in general to have a certain feeling towards my music because I have a message to get across.

Jamal Bartelle: Being in the music business there’s two different types of artists, you’re either underground or commercial. What category does Gucci Flavor fall under?

GF: With out a doubt underground, I stay true to myself and people/fans who listen to Gucci Flavor’s music.

Jamal Bartelle: Alright, a lot of artists have a slogan or trademark. Do you have one?

GF: Yes, as an artist I like to speak to the crowd and just feel the excitement and emotion flowing from everyone. So I say Tek Tek and the crowd answers Tom Tom! That's my slogan man.

Jamal Bartelle: If fans/people want to see Gucci Flavor perform, what clubs or other associations can you found in?

GF: Most definitely the West Indian Club in Hartford and basically all over Connecticut.

Jamal Bartelle: Is there a CD out or in the making?

GF:I have a mix tape out with a couple of songs but you should expect a full cd coming soon. It will be called So Much Better. I feel that I'm so much better from when I first began my music career.

Jamal Bartelle: What label are you under as an artist?

GF: Star Time Faculty for life.

Jamal Bartelle: You’ve recently performed with Movado for the first time. How was that particular experience?

GF: We performed at the Sportsman and it was a real humble experience. Movado gave me a lot input on my music career. He said, “I’ve a bright future ahead and I’m one of the best artist he’s ever worked with.

Jamal Bartelle: Alright, as we end the interview let the fans/people hear a little something.

GF: Star Time Faculty step on them like a maggot Slit Them Dung like a fagoty Tip Them Over Like a Cup of Tea Have We Own a Property But We No More Kakoti
